According to the statistics for 2015 at the Philanthropy Roundtable, this is a snapshot for giving in the United States:

Various research tells us the average United Methodist member gives around 2.5-3.0 percent of annual income or around $1800-$2400 each year.

The next time your leaders meet, share the information above and ask three questions;

  • Why do you think the lowest income earners give the highest percentage of income?
  • What is the difference between an average American and an average United Methodist member?
  • Is there anything we need to do in the areas of stewardship and giving?

Need help? Your Foundation can help. We partner with churches in doing Stewardship Mentoring throughout the year. We offer several classes or presentations such as How to Say Thank You or Nuts and Bolts of Raising More Money. Contact us at ghowell@umfindiana.org or 317-788-7879.
